Apartment #624

Hey everyone!  So this is LONG overdue and I must apologize.  But for whatever it is worth having a baby 7 weeks early (and thus being totally unprepared for a new little human), trying to move to a new place and get settled, and then work on trying to navigate life in NYC with 2 kids has proven to be quite overwhelming.  We are about 3 1/2 months into life as a family of 4 and still do not have a good schedule going.  Pray for us y'all....Moses has not been the greatest sleeper and it doesn't help that he is right outside our toddler's room.  So trying to make sure she still gets some good sleep while training him to learn to sleep has been challenging.  Honestly, there have been many days I've longed for our house back in Texas.  But we are here, the Lord continues to confirm that this is where we need to be, so I'm just praying for the strength to make it day by day.
ANYWAY, we have been in our new apartment in the Bronx since the beginning of January so we wanted just to let y'all see a little of what it looks like!  We still are trying to find places for things and set up our home in a much smaller space, so pardon the clothes that are everywhere.  But it is feeling more and more like home for us.  After just living in transition for most of 2016 we are glad to be here and getting settled....so here you go!

This is facing the front door and there are 2 nice size closets there on the right.  Then turning to the right of our dining table is a little hallway.  The kitchen is on the left, the bathroom straight ahead, and our room is on the right.

This is standing by the dining table and facing the living room and then Moses's "room".  The living room area is very nice size so we added the partitions to make a makeshift third bedroom for the baby.  You can see the 3 windows in his room....the kid has the best view in the house!

We are on the top floor of our building so you can actually see the skyline of Manhattan which is pretty cool.  I still stand there looking at the city sometimes still in disbelief of where we are and completely humbled by what God has called us to do.

Maria's room is right before the partitions.  We were in such a hurry to get things set up before Moses came home from the hospital that we just did pink.  LOTS AND LOTS of pink.  But she has enjoyed having her own room for the most part.  She's only 3 and we are already having her door slammed when she gets mad....DRAMA.  But that's a whole other story for another day.

Here are a couple shots of the kitchen.  Call me worldly or silly or whatever but I had 2 requirements of things I really wanted in an apartment.  Coming from our house in Texas we got rid of a bunch of things so I didn't think 2 requirements was that bad.  One was a dishwasher....and we got it!  I really didn't know if it would be possible, most apartments we looked at did not have them.  But this one did and I am so grateful!  We cook and eat at home most of the time and I just LOATHE washing dishes by hand.  Like, I was really praying for a dishwasher most of last year.

Here's a shot of our bathroom.  It's small, but it's got a shower with hot water and a working toilet so no complaints here.  We're making it work.

And finally here is our bedroom.  So the second thing I wanted was to keep my king size bed.  And we were able to do just that!  I'm sure you all were wondering, I'm not really a snuggly or touchy type of person at night....I want my space and nothing near me.  Plus I was pregnant while we were looking for an apartment and REALLY wanting that personal space.  In all actuality I probably would have compromised on this rather than the dishwasher, but don't tell Jordan.

So there you go.  Feel free to come visit us and see it all in person!  We have a sofa bed in the living room for a couple people to stay (or 3 depending on how close you want to be to others at all times!) and Maria LOVES to have visitors!  God is good, He continues to provide for us, and now we are just praying that He will show us how we can best join Him in what He is already doing in our community.  We formed some great relationships already, and are looking forward to what God will do in the months ahead.  Thanks for praying, thanks for reading, and thanks for following along with us on our journey!
