It's Friday in Oklahoma. After a busy few weeks, things have settled down...for now. Today, we ate a few fried sausage rolls from Daylight Donuts in Owasso, OK with Gigi and Papa. We spent some time with my grandparents, Nana and Grandpa in Glenpool, OK. We ate some Mazzio's Pizza and drank some Pepsi-cola from a solo cup. We sat and laughed while Grandpa shared tales of growing up in the sticks of western Arkansas (which his stories have always skewed my view of The Natural State). Maria played with some of my former favorites at Nana's, particularly a vintage 1968 Fisher-Price "Play Family Farm" with Silo (you know the one that makes the sound of a cow mooing every time the barn door opens). She played for over an hour with the barn and its farm animals and could've gone longer if we would've let her.
Our little 2 year old is now napping away and probably dreaming of cows mooing and farmers farming. Becky and I are sitting out on the porch just enjoying the fresh air. It's sprinkling a little. The breeze is soft. It's Oklahoma. Things are calm. But now I'm wondering if Fisher-Price makes a New York City skyline for kids to play with because this green, open acreage won't be her norm for too much longer.
