Selling the House

On Tuesday our realtor took some photos of the house. On Wednesday the house was officially listed on the market. We soon had many showings scheduled. On Thursday morning I received a phone call from our realtor informing us that we had received multiple offers on the house and we should discuss them in detail.
That night we accepted a great offer.

PRAISE THE LORD!!!

On Friday the for sale sign was installed in our yard.

Honestly, it sounds fast, and it is, but we have been preparing our house for the market for the last several months. We had new carpet installed last month. We have emptied out closets, donated many items, thrown away all kinds of junk, decluttered busy areas, replaced doors, scrubbed, washed, and cleaned the place top to bottom. It looks GREAT! And now we are selling it.

Our house is something that we have felt blessed to have for these past 6+ years. I knew right away that this was the house for us when we first stepped foot inside while house-shopping. This house quickly became a home for us where we have had many great memories with family and friends. It is the only house our daughter Maria has called home (in her words "her castle"), and the transition of moving anywhere else will have its challenges.

Fruit trees, raised bed garden, and Maria's playset

I'll miss having a backyard. I'll miss picking and eating peaches straight off the trees all throughout the summer. I'll miss the peach preserves, the peach ice cream, the peach milkshake, the peach pie, the peach cake, the peach cobbler, the peach salsa...ok maybe we never made peach salsa but you get the point.

Things are moving quicker than we had first anticipated and that's alright. We believe more than ever that God has called us to move to NYC and to lead people to Christ. We believe that He will provide for us in the days to come, because He has greatly provided for us in the years of our past. He has left us no reason to doubt. During the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus teaches us not to worry about what we do not have (clothes, food, drink) and that the Father knows our needs, and then Jesus explains to us:
"But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness,
and all these things will be given to you as well."
-Matthew 6:33

As we try our best to "seek first his kingdom and his righteousness", please continue to pray for us, specifically that we will find buyers for the rest of our stuff. As we continue to box up things, sell things, please don't hesitate to ask about our stuff. I'll probably write up another post soon about the things we still need to sell.
